We have a wish.
We wish to walk the night.
We wish for the guns to quiet.
We wish for them to listen to the science.
We wish for them to see the evidence.
We wish for them to use reason.
We wish for the lies to end.
We wish for the persecution to stop.
We wish we were safe.
We're just waiting for a wish.

Since 2013 the UK government have licensed badger culls in an attempt to control the bovine tuberculosis issue in cattle. This policy has met with much opposition amongst scientists and naturalists as much of the caring public for being unscientific, ineffective and inhumane.

In the face of this the culls continue, with over 140,000 badgers killed. Along with many of you, my heart breaks. Since the culls began I have donated 10% from every badger treasure I make to both the Lancashire Badger Group and the Badger Trust to help them protect my local badgers and fight the culls. And one of the main reasons I chose the Save Me Trust as the charity to benefit from this fair is because of the way Brian and Anne have fought tirelessly against the culls and trying to find a sustainable, cattle based, solution, even speaking in parliament and working with the Welsh government.

I wanted to create a piece to symbolise how our broken hearts feel. Something to spread awareness, to continue the conversation and to maybe create beauty out of the sadness.

Here you can see some of the making process as I strived to sculpt a dandelion so realistic you would have to look twice to know it wasn’t real.
If you want to own these hopeful little badgers you can find them here.
